Marine Litigation
The institute of ship arrest is a strong tool in the hands of a creditor providing the latter with the power to arrest his debtor’s vessel to obtain security for his claim as well as to found jurisdiction. The instrument by which a legitimate creditor may bring about the arrest of his debtor’s vessel under Maltese law is the warrant of arrest.
Gonzi & Associates, Advocates offers assistance to clients in all admiralty, arrest and other maritime claims particularly in ship arrest processes and the subsequent judicial sale by auction of ships.
We are actively involved in ship arrests in Malta and Maltese waters, and offer advice to ship-owners on arrest and seizure proceedings, ship releases and counter-security measures. Other issues that may arise include salvage, towage cargo claims, enforcement or realisation and discharge of ship mortgages and liens, piracy and institutions of all claims whether in rem or in personam.
